Catfish Derby Holds Royal Court in Tennessee and Crowns two New Kings!
Once upon a time in the land of the catfish, known as Savannah, Tennessee, in the county of Hardin, the oldest, most prestigious catfish tournament, The National Catfish Derby, The World Championship of Catfishing was held on July 15th, 2006.

National Catfish Debry’s World Championship of Catfishing
Renfroe Duo Claims ’05 WCC Title
PICKWICK, TN – A mixed plate on the weather served a day not the most palatable to fishermen… early morning heavy rains, with blaring sun to follow making a steamy, humid, hot day. Fifty-seven (57) boats – one hundred and fourteen (114) fishermen – took on the challenge despite weather conditions, in a “quest” to become the next World Champions of Catfishing at the 2005 National Catfish Derby at Pickwick Landing State Park in Hardin County.

Roach Takes Two Places In Eufaula
EUFAULA, AL - Hot, steamy, near-100° temperatures on Friday, June 24 were soon dissipated with the fast-approaching cold front over Lake Eufaula. Saturday, June 25 set the tournament stage with an enjoyable 88°. Fifty-one fishermen from 7 states converged in Eufaula for the first-ever competition of the Bass Pro Shop’s Big Cat Quest Catfish Tournament Trail.

National Catfish Derby’s WCC – July 16
The National Catfish Derby’s World Championship of Catfishing is scheduled for Saturday, July 16 in Pickwick, TN. The team event is a different format than the other tournaments along Bass Pro Shop’s Big Cat Quest Trail. Entry fee is $200 per team to participate. First place will take home a new SeaArk boat and Suzuki motor, Second place receives a MotorGuide Trolling motor, and third through fifth place haul home cash prizes. A historic Hardin County event – The National Catfish Derby RODEO – takes place June 17 through July 15 (ending at 5:00 p.m.). The free-to-the-public event sports local sponsors and pays $100 weekly to the biggest fish, and will award $500 to the biggest fish overall – during the WCC, July 16.
