Tru Turn Hooks -
John W. Campbell was born the son of an Alabama sharecropper, 1914. He often fished near his grandfather’s gristmill as a child. After getting his hook hung in the mill; he carefully bent the hook back. Even though this hook had a kink in it, it was his favorite.
Years later; stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, he worked with the then infant computers. These computers used IBM punch cards that had to be sorted and John devised a bent paperclip to sort them faster.
You tend to “fiddle” with things on your desk and John noticed the bent clips rotated towards pressure. It was these bent paperclips that led to the invention of the Tru-Turn hook.
In spring of 1959; while fishing a south Montgomery pond he hooked a nice Bass. As the fish neared the boat, the Bass made a final effort and got away. John began to think and the idea struck him. So he bent his hook with a bend that was perpendicular to the point. It rotated towards pressure, just like his paperclips and that favorite hook he used as a young boy. After more extensive testing on Lake Martin, John knew he had a great hook.
He began bending hooks for Air Force Generals, Majors, and Corporals. Then a local tackle shop wanted them, then two, then a distributor wanted the “bent” hook and the Tru-Turn hook was born. “Tru-Turn Hooks” was incorporated in 1960.
Today; the TTI-Blakemore Fishing Group is still a family business that ships great fishing products all over the world. The Campbell’s haven’t forgotten where they started.

Abu Garcia -
In 1921, by the river of Mörrum in Svängsta, Sweden, Carl August Borgström founded AB Urfabriken. The company manufactured pocket watches, telephone timers and taxi meters. Borgström was a brilliant craftsman with a talent for light precision engineering; skills he had acquired during his years in the Halda watchmaking factory. Unfortunately, World War II caused a sharp decline in the demand for taxi meters. Undaunted, ABU redirected its skills toward the development of precision fishing reels used by anglers the world over. That's why Abu Garcia later received the honor of being chosen "Purveyor To The Royal Swedish Court," a distinction bestowed upon a select group of manufacturers for consistently exceeding its highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Abu Garcia's influence on the sportfishing community is unmatched. The company remains firmly committed to maintaining its industry leadership position by providing anglers everywhere with the highest quality, most innovative products. for more i 1921, by the river of Mörrum in Svängsta, Sweden, Carl August Borgström founded AB Urfabriken. American Angler Knife - www.americananglerusa.com
American Angler Knives
Hopefully each time you head out on the water results in a catch where you’ve got more than your boat can hold. A set of premium fishing knives from American Angler will help you cut and clean any size or type of fish. So which type of American Angler fillet knife is right for you?
Reach for one of our electric fillet knives if you intend to catch multiple species of fish. The benefit with this style of knife is that you can swap out blades that best cater to your catch. For example, small or medium pan-sized fish can be filleted with our standard 5” and 8” curved blades. When it comes to your larger catches, reach for a longer, straight blade such as our 10” shark or 10” heavy duty blades. The American Angler electric knife is available as a set with interchangeable blades or with a single blade if your fishing style doesn’t change much. For the casual fisherman who doesn’t need to fillet pounds and pounds of fish, our selection of manual American Angler knives will do the trick. From short bait knives to long fillet knives for those bigger catches, we have an American Angler manual fillet knife for every application. check out us at http://americananglerusa.com/
TTI-Blakemore Fishing Group -
When one thinks of some of the first lures designed for light-line finesse fishing two companies should come to mind. Of course there was the Bass Buster Lures Beetle Spin manufactured by early bass pioneer Virgil Ward. The second that should rattle your memory – especially with the latest number of underspins that have entered the market – is the Blakemore Road Runner.
Blakemore came to life in 1959 when Bert Hall and a fishing buddy started manufacturing the Road Runner in Branson, MO. Back then it was manufactured solely of marabou and was mainly designed for use on local lakes such as Taneycomo, Bull Shoals, Table Rock and the Arkansas River. The bait was designed to catch anything – and that it did. For more info on the group go to https://www.ttiblakemore.com/
Bass Pro Shops -
In 1971, Johnny Morris, frustrated by the lack of tackle in local stores, rented a U-Haul® trailer and took off across the country filling it with the newest premium fishing tackle he could find. When he returned home to Springfield, Missouri, Johnny set up shop in his dad's liquor store, which was located on the way to Table Rock Lake. With this simple idea, Bass Pro Shops® was born.
This new store became popular with local and out-of-state fishermen. By 1974, Johnny printed and mailed the first Bass Pro Shops catalog. In 1978, he introduced Bass Tracker first boat, motor, and trailer package designed just for anglers.
By building and selling boats factory direct, Johnny was able to pass on huge value and savings to fishermen. Tracker has remained America's #1 selling fishing boat for more than 35 years running.
From those humble beginnings, Bass Pro Shops has become America's leading outdoor retailer with stores across America and Canada. Every Bass Pro Shops store still offers an incredible array of fishing and boating equipment. We're also the premier shopping destination for hunting, camping, and outdoor cooking gear as well as outdoor footwear and nature-themed gift. For more info visit www.bassproshops.com

Strike King -
An ad the 1964 “Don Fuelsch Southern Angler and Hunters Guide” shows “The new original ‘Strike King’ bass lure” by McEwen Tackle Co. It was a single spin spinnerbait. Bill McEwen was a taxidermist in Memphis, TN and made these lures on the side out of his garage.
In the spring of 1966 Charles Spence purchased Bill McEwen’s lure business which consisted of; a lead melting pot, some safety pins, a few bags of skirts and some molds. He refers to it as Strike King Lure Company.
In 1967, Ray Scott holds his first bass tournament on Beaver Lake in northwest Arkansas. Bill Dance, Charles Spence and Ray Murski compete in it. Notably Bill got 2nd and Ray got 4th! They all become friends and form business relationships.
About 1968 Ray Murski calls on a man named Sam Walton who has a chain of 4 stores in northwest Arkansas.
In the 1970'S, Bill Dance became the most successful tournament angler in the early years of the sport and then became a nationally known television personality. Charles Spence built up Strike King Lure Company as a lure manufacturing entity near the Memphis airport on Sanderwood Street. Ray Murski’s sales rep group grew and represented many outdoor products. So Charles built the product, Ray sold it and Bill promoted it for many years! For more info go to www.strikeking.com
